About CharityAnn

I'm a small town, stay at home mom living on a shoestring budget. I spend my time working as a ChaCha guide from home, searching out internet coupons and deals, and entering sweepstakes for fun prizes we couldn't normally afford. Through ChaCha, coupons, deals, and sweepstakes I have found a way to continue staying home with my kids while still affording the things we want. I'm still learning what works and what doesn't, but I hope to share my finds with local readers so that we may all enjoy what our small town has to offer without paying big city prices.

  1. Hi! I’m curious what Country Mart you shop at. AND the one on Lee, the girl told me they “double coupons up to $1”. Does that mean they only double coupons $.50 or less or do they double coupons with a face value $1 or less? The wording confuses me. Can you help?

  2. I mostly shop the CountryMart on Cache, though I do venture over to Gore occasionally. They double coupons that are for $1 off or less. So, ‘up to $2’ if you think of it in those terms. Anything over $1 will not double and they only double one like coupon per transaction. This applies to printables and inserts as well if they are for the same amount. Hope this helps!

  3. yes it does! Thank you!

  4. I know it sounds like I’m on repeat mode. But I’m starting to make my grocery list and When I put that $1 coupons double to $2 off, I’m doubting my figuring. Is there any reason, other than the coupon obviously stating it, a coupon not double? I mean, I don’t want to figure these $1 off coupons as being $2 off and get to the register and it not be right. I’ve shopped at Country Mart with coupons before but only used coupons under $1 face value. I’m a little nervous using a $1 off coupon with expectations of it doubling. lol! I guess I’m just looking for confirmation… once again. =/

  5. Almost all of my coupons are for either $.50 or $1 off and I will watch the register to make sure it is doubling. Other than those that say not to double I’ve never found any that won’t. They just have to be $1 or under. Watch the register and you will see it say a line that says ‘doubled’ after the first initial $1 is taken off. The only time it won’t is if you already had a coupon for the same product and amount off double. Never hesitate to ask, even if it’s the same question over and over. I’ve been there, I know how you feel! Hope this helps ease your worries and wasn’t too late for you.

  6. okay. Thanks! I know the last time I went, the cashier broke my cart down into seperate transactions so that my multiple coupons would also double. I’m pretty sure I will go to her line every chance I get. I appreciate your help. Super amazing job helping me understand. I guess I just find it hard to believe that I can get somethings for so cheap… I second guess myself.

  7. I hit a snag at country mart yesterday. I had broke my groceries down into a few multiple transactions. While going thru the process, a manager came over and declared in my face that “there will be no more multiple transactions. ONE TRANSACTION PER CUSTOMER PER DAY.” She was very rude and she made this rule up on the fly. When I called the country mart on lee, they said they also have that rule. However, I sent an email to the store and I’m still waiting on a response. The lady behind me in line also was using coupons and said she would not come back to that store if that policy is made official. I decided I would hit up every country mart in one day if I have to in order to save money. A trip from Elgin to Lawton isn’t worth it if I can only double one coupon per visit. I can’t afford to make several trips in a week.

  8. You were right to email them and try to get an official statement about this. If you get confirmation one way or another, be sure to print out your email and have it handy in case this happens again. I’ve been hearing rumors that this may start soon but I also know that if that is the case, it will be done thru our CountryMart cards. This means that the registers will know that your card has been used that day and won’t allow those coupons to double again in the same day. This is why I’m a big advocate against coupon fraud. Be sure you use your coupons the way they are intended and keep up with coupon policies. This isn’t to say that you aren’t but to say that those who are trying to fraud the system are causing issues for those of us who work hard to stay honest and continue saving as much as we’re allowed. I would love to hear how this turns out for you. I’m fortunate enough to have my sons Karate in the same vicinity twice a week so I usually go on different days anyway. I didn’t know they were getting so hardcore about keeping customers from saving. I’m sure they’re business has grown since they are the only ones who double coupons. If they keep this attitude up, they will lose that business when those of us with coupons go back to Walmart to avoid the hassle. Let us know how this gets resolved for you!

  9. I will. It doesn’t seem like it is something that, for right now, it won’t be thru the card. The email I received back from the manager at CM was FILLED with apologies. I did state that if that is the policy than I can respect that, but I will not be treated badly for trying to save money. I had also called the W cache rd branch that said that has been that stores policy all along. I think it’s a store preference. Not sure but I’ll test it out. I’m not trying to misuse the rules or coupons. Sure hope that’s not how this sounds. =)

    • Not at all! In fact you are just like me. I don’t mind if something is a rule, but please let consumers know that this is the case. Some cashiers are nice and will let you do multiple transactions so it’s frustrating when you go in and get treated like a criminal for doing something you were allowed to do just last week. I understand that in the end it really is up to each store manager on how to handle their own policy but they should remember to be courteous about it and offer an explanation rather than upsetting CUSTOMERS. Coupons = Cash to a store, to us they are just paper if they won’t be honored. So if it is one per day, they should decide to make that policy for all stores. A good couponer can always adjust. It is those that are never satisfied with anything but FREE that will either give up or get rightfully badgered about what they are trying to do.

You are definitely a good couponer, if only for asking as many questions as you do! The learning is never complete. 🙂

  10. Thanks. I really appreciate all your help. And I really dont mind the rule. It was actually a cashier who told me to do it when I first started going there. I would not have even tried if it weren’t for that. I really don’t mind making trips all across town to get a deal. After thinking about it, I realize… if it’s okay of course… doing it that way will help me keep track better and make fewer mistakes. If I can’t do it or it’s not allowed, my bf said that an extra trip or 2 a month would pay off in the end. So I’ll test it out my next trip in. I’m actually waiting for my food stamps before I go. I don’t get very many food stamps but I’m kinda eager to see how far I can make it stretch. lol!
